The walk commenced at the Sunnyside lane entrance to the orchard. On the left one can see this carving.

The sun is sinking. The frost covers all the fields towards Aldcliffe south of the orchard.

The trees are already preparing for the spring as can be seen by these catkins on the hazel bushes.

Silhouetted against the darkening sky the seed heads and catkins on the alder tree can be seen to the right of the path.
